GO Laurel Highlands Named Preferred Vacation Destination Partner of Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Laurel Highlands have formed a winning combination for decades.

Now the legendary Southwestern Pennsylvania brands have cemented their relationship, as GO Laurel Highlands has joined the team as a Preferred Vacation Destination Partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

GO Laurel Highlands – the official destination marketing organization for Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland counties – announced the new designation on Thursday.

“The opportunity to align GO Laurel Highlands with the Pittsburgh Steelers is one of the most significant partnerships in the history of our organization,” said Ann Nemanic, GO LH’s executive director.  “Connecting and engaging with Steelers Nation affords the unprecedented ability to showcase our region, our partners, and the unique tourism assets and experiences within our footprint.”

The Steelers have held their annual Training Camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe since 1966, except for two summers affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Training Camp offers fans a chance to get an up-close glimpse of new and returning talent as well as seek autographs from their favorite players. Fans can obtain free mobile tickets online to attend daily practices.

This year’s camp will be held on the Saint Vincent College campus from July 24 through Aug. 14, with the popular Friday Night Lights practice at Latrobe Memorial Stadium on Aug. 2.

GO Laurel Highlands previously served as a Pittsburgh Steelers partner, with an activation zone at Training Camp and advertising shown during games at Acrisure Stadium. The new agreement takes that partnership to a new level, with GO Laurel Highlands sponsoring the team’s schedule release in May and working with the Steelers to help bring attention to the incredible attributes in the Laurel Highlands, which is located a little more than an hour outside of Pittsburgh.

“We are excited to expand our partnership with GO Laurel Highlands,” said Ryan Huzjak, the vice president of sales and marketing for the Pittsburgh Steelers. “The partnership will provide the visitors bureau with unique ways to showcase everything that the Laurel Highlands region has to offer via Steelers platforms. Our fans will also have the opportunity to win getaways to the Laurel Highlands through two offseason sweepstakes, one of which is live from July 8 – August 1.”

Nemanic said the partnership will help connect fans to the Laurel Highlands.

“As a ‘Preferred Vacation Destination of the Pittsburgh Steelers,’ loyal fans will discover captivating itineraries for all areas of interest,” Nemanic said. “They will soon realize Steelers Training Camp is just the beginning of why GO Laurel Highlands is a destination of choice for millions year after year.”

The Steelers and the Laurel Highlands share a championship pedigree. The six-time Super Bowl champions are one of the most famous brands in professional sports while the scenic mountainous region continues to pile up honors. The 3,000-square-mile Laurel Highlands has been named one of USA Today’s Best Summer Travel Destinations and is home to Keystone State Park, which won the title of Best Destination for Fall Foliage in 2023. The Laurel Highlands features Good Housekeeping’s Best Scenic Road Trip and includes Ohiopyle, the tiny adventure town that was named USA Today’s Best Small Town in the Northeast in 2024.

With incredible outdoor recreational opportunities ranging from whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny and Stonycreek rivers to bicycling on the 150-mile Great Allegheny Passage to trekking the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, the Laurel Highlands has developed a reputation as one of the best places to unplug and reconnect with nature. Excellent fishing and hunting opportunities abound, and the region features more than 110,000 acres of publicly accessible land, with eight state parks and two state forests.

Fallingwater, which has been named the best all-time work of American architecture, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of four Frank Lloyd Wright-designed homes in the region, with Kentuck Knob and Polymath Park boasting the others. The Westmoreland Museum of American Art and Touchstone Center for Crafts are leading cultural institutions in the region while small towns such as Ligonier, Latrobe and Somerset each draw visitors with their charming small-town feel.

Visitors have an abundance of lodging options, ranging from primitive and RV campgrounds to quaint bed-and-breakfasts and secluded cabins to resorts such as Seven Springs Mountain Resort and the ultra-luxury Nemacolin, which recently reopened the renovated The Chateau and Grand Lodge.
