The Florida Skimboarding Pro/Am Tournament, 5Ks, and Triathlons return for athletes and amateurs
The 2024 Summer Olympics are nearing the end, but you can keep living the thrill of Summertime sports on Florida’s Historic Coast. There are several events and opportunities coming up where everyone, from kids to seasoned athletes, can get in the game.
The Florida Skimboarding Pro/Am Tournament returns to Vilano Beach August 17-18. Now in its 30th year, this is the third oldest skimboarding pro/am tournament in the world, running more divisional heats than any other. It will feature competitors from across Florida, with divisions featuring skimboarders from under age 8 all the way to 40 years and up.
In early October, Game On! Ponte Vedra Triathlon will include an Olympic distance Triathlon, Duathlon and Aquabike as well as the Sprint Triathlon and Sprint Duathlon. Training starts young here, too. Kids aged 5-14 can become triathletes at the Murabella Kids Triathlon on August 4 or the First Coast Kids Swim Run Race on August 25.
Runners can go the distance with a variety of road races that are both fun and challenging. Athletes can compete for a cause at Alex’s Capes & Tiaras 5k on August 18, Tunnel 2 Towers 5k on September 7, and The SuperHero 5K and 10K Races on September 8. The Ponte Vedra 10-Miler, on September 22, offers distances for beginners and competitive runners. On September 28, the Family Color Run 5K will take place at St. Johns County Fairgrounds in Elkton.
Still in training mode? Florida’s Historic Coast has tons of sporting events coming in October and November: Bike MS: PGA TOUR Cycle to the Shore 2024; Pink Up the Pace 5k; Shine A Light 5K & Concert; Jailbreak 5K; Ultimate Tri; Ancient City Boos and Brews 5k Race/1-mile Fun Run; and Endless Summer 10K & 5K.
