About Me
Yulia Denisyuk is an award-winning travel journalist, photographer, writer, and filmmaker who turned to travel journalism in 2016 after serving in the US military and working as a Fortune 500 brand manager. Yulia’s work appears in The New York Times, National Geographic, TIME, Conde Nast Traveler, BBC Travel, Lonely Planet, and more. For past assignments, she’s shared a roof with nomads in Mongolia, traced the origins of Iznik tiles with artisans in Turkey, and learned the art of Imigongo with artist collectives in Rwanda. Yulia is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) and the founder of NOMⴷD + JULES, a small-group travel company. She’s also the founder of Travel Media Lab, a storytelling and educational platform. Yulia hosts the Going Places show, frequently speaks at conferences and events, and teaches workshops around the world. She is based in Chicago, albeit in winter she often questions that decision.
